I have lived in the United States for over sixty-eight years but have had the great joy of spending at least a month of every one of my ninety years in Quebec where I was born and educated. I graduated from Verdun High School, attended McGill University and graduated from the Royal Victoria School of Nursing. After working as a School Nurse in Verdun, I moved to New York, married and worked at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. While raising a family, I began my art studies and have been involved in the art world in some capacity since then. My early work was nature inspired. Over the many years of exploring different media, my work became more textural and dimensional. Recently, I have been concentrating on assemblage, finding the challenge of using detritus with a history and giving it a new life and a new story. The many products on the market today stimulate the imagination and allow it to soar. Although aging contributes to some limitations, I find I am doing my best work, have fewer distractions and plan to continue creating as long as I can.

Au cours des soixante-huit années que j’ai vécu aux États-Unis, j’ai toujours manifesté mon attachement pour le Québec où je suis née et reçu mon éducation. Durant mes quatre-vingt-dix années de vie, j’ai d’ailleurs eu la grande joie d’y retourner au moins un mois par an. J’ai complété mes études secondaires à Verdun, j’ai étudié à l’Université McGill et obtenu un diplôme en soins infirmiers à la Royal Victoria School of Nursing. Après avoir été infirmière scolaire à Verdun, j’ai emménagé à New York, je m’y suis mariée pour ensuite travailler à la Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Tout en élevant ma famille, j’ai entamé des études en art et m’implique depuis ce jour dans le milieu artistique. Mes premières oeuvres furent inspirées par la nature. Ensuite, au fil des années durant lesquelles j’ai expérimenté plusieurs médias, ma démarche a porté davantage sur la texture des oeuvres et leur aspect dimensionnel. Récemment, j’ai consacré mon travail aux assemblages, y relevant le défi de m’approprier des objets et détritus du passé afin leur donner une nouvelle vie et une nouvelle histoire. Les nombreux produits aujourd’hui offerts sur le marché stimulent l’imagination et transportent celle-ci à d’autres niveaux. Bien que l’âge puisse aujourd’hui poser certaines limites, je pense réaliser des oeuvres plus intéressantes, j’ai moins de distractions et je compte poursuivre ainsi mon travail tant que je le pourrai.
